About Bangkok

Thailand's capital city, Bangkok, also known as The City of Angels, features a vibrant mix of colors, history, culture and lifestyle. Recognized as one of the most popular business and tourism destinations in Asia, Bangkok is a haven for the discerning business traveler, the expatriate resident and the adventurous tourist. In Bangkok, there's something to suit everyone’s tastes.

Shopping

Aspen Suites is just a stroll away from Sukhumvit Road where you can find sidewalk stalls offering an eclectic mix of souvenirs and Thai handicrafts at reasonable prices. Bargaining is a must! For more sophisticated shopping, upmarket malls such as the Emporium, Central Chidlom, Central World, Gaysorn Plaza and Siam Paragon are all less than 10 minutes away by taxi or BTS Skytrain. Equally close by are the trendy but affordable boutiques of MBK and Siam Square.

On weekends, visit the famous Chatuchak market that has everything from clothes and furniture to antiques, orchids and jewelry via BTS Skytrain or the MRT underground train. In the evening Patpong Night Market in Silom Road and Lumpini Night Bazaar can be reached by taxi within 15 minutes from Aspen Suites.

Corporate, Meetings and Industry

If you are in town for business, Aspen Suites is perfectly located in the heart of the Central Business District with easy access to Asoke, Sathorn, Silom and Rama IV roads, where most major offices and banks are situated. On Sukhumvit road itself office buildings such as One and Two Pacific Place, UBC II and the Emporium Office Tower are all just minutes away as is All Seasons Place and Q House Ploenchit.

Close by is the entrance to the major motorways and expressways of the city that give rapid access the Impact Convention & Exhibition Center, Bangkok International Trade Exhibition Center (BITEC), manufacturing plants in Bangna-Srinakarin as well as industrial estates in Ayutthaya and the Eastern Seaboard.

Dining and Entertainment

Aspen Suites is just minutes away from a choice of hundreds of restaurants on Sukhumvit Road offering international cuisine from Europe, India, Japan and China as well as fine Thai restaurants and delicious noodle stalls.

At night, Bangkok’s entertainment areas like Soi 11, Thonglor Soi 55, Nana Plaza, Patpong and Royal City Avenue are all within easy striking distance.

Relaxation and Recreation

To relax after a strenuous business meeting or a hectic day’s sightseeing there is nothing better than a soothing Thai massage. Fortunately there are dozens of establishments offering complete spa services nearby as well as manicures, pedicures and facials.

Golfing enthusiasts will be in heaven with a wide choice of championship standard courses in and around Bangkok. Most courses are open to non-members with green and caddy fees among the lowest in the world.

Cultural Tourism

Although the skyline of this fast-moving metropolis undergoes constant change glimpses of the rich Thai heritage remain to charm the senses. Refreshing contrasts appear at every turn; glittering temples and old teak houses stand next to five-star hotels and canals wend their way next to modern expressways.

Just two stops away on the BTS Skytrain is the Erawan Shrine, one of the most famous religious monuments in the city, where devotees flock 24 hours a day. A little further on the BTS will bring you to the Jim Thompson house. Considered by some to be the father of the Thai silk industry, Jim Thompson not only left a legacy of fine craftsmanship and design, but also his famous residence - a structure of adjoining traditional Thai wooden houses.

A must for any visitor is a tour of the stately Grand Palace set amongst a myriad of temples near to the Chao Praya river with its bustle of boat traffic and street markets. The Grand Palace includes Wat Phra Kaew, home to the famous and revered Emerald Buddha. Nearby is the renowned Wat Pho, with its massive golden reclining Buddha and site of the original school of Thai massage.

Lumpini Stadium, home of 'Muay Thai' or Thai boxing is a few minutes by taxi from Aspen Suites where evening bouts take place on a regular basis.

Worthwhile excursions outside the city include the ancient capital of Ayutthaya, the legendary Bridge over the River Kwai in Kanchanaburi as well as various floating markets and the seaside resort of Pattaya further afield.
